I purchased a Sears KS-2 35mm film camera on Ebay for $10.00 and was saddened to learn when I received it that it wasn't working, you get what you pay for! I called a few local photo shops that i've sent other cameras to in the past and found that none of them repair film cameras any more. Enter the interweb!
I was taking a class at Cabrillo College and the Professor recommended Carlos. I was told he does all the repairs for Cabrillo and for UCSC. The first I went in my hot shoe flash was not staying attached.
I'll admit when I first came I was very unconvinced. He runs the shop out of the back of a trailer in a trailer park, isn't good at responding to calls, and won't give price quotes, but all the other shops I called in the bay area said they couldn't repair my old agfa isolette and suggested him.
My Sony DSC-RX100 was having issues with the lense retracting (and um, the opposite of retracting) and, on the advice of a couple of professional photographer friends, I took it to Carlos.
