How do I find a camera repair shop near me?

Start with your state, then your city — every city page lists the local camera repair shops with addresses, hours and ratings, sorted by reputation. If you know what you need, the service pages are faster: authorized service, film & vintage repair, sensor cleaning or lens repair only show places where there is real evidence they do that work. And if nobody local can help, the mail-in page lists shops that accept cameras by post from anywhere.

Is it worth repairing a camera, or should I replace it?

It depends on what the body is worth versus the repair. A clean-lube-adjust (CLA) on a film SLR runs about $150–$300, sensor cleaning on a digital body $50–$80, and a shutter or bigger mechanical job can reach $300–$425. So a $150 film point-and-shoot is rarely worth a full overhaul, while a $2,000 mirrorless body almost always is. Most shops charge a diagnostic or bench fee to open the camera and quote the job — ask whether they credit it against the repair before you leave it.

What is an “authorized” service center, and does it matter?

An authorized (or factory-authorized) service center is contracted by the manufacturer — Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and others — and uses genuine parts and manufacturer-trained technicians. It matters most for in-warranty repairs (an unauthorized repair can void the warranty) and for newer digital bodies that need proprietary parts and calibration. For older mechanical film cameras, an experienced independent specialist is often the better choice, since the factory may no longer stock parts.

Can I mail my camera in for repair?

Yes — many of the best camera technicians work mail-in, and some of the country's top specialists (for Leica, Hasselblad, and mechanical film cameras) take work only by post. It is the normal way to reach a specialist when no one local can service your make. Pack the body well, insure the shipment, and get a written estimate before authorizing work. What is in this directory — and what is not?

Only businesses with real evidence they repair photographic cameras and lenses: dedicated repair benches, camera stores with an in-house repair department, and brand-authorized service centers. Deliberately excluded, even though they rank for the same searches: phone and computer repair shops ("iPhone camera repair"), security/CCTV camera installers, car backup-camera and dash-cam installers, drone shops, and photographers.
