These California shops state on their own website that they're an authorized dealer — so the gear comes with the US manufacturer warranty and they can start a warranty claim for you.
The advantage of a local counter over a shipping box is that you can handle the body first and you have somewhere to go back to when something goes wrong. Ask three things when you call: is it in stock today, does the price include the US manufacturer warranty, and who handles their repairs.
That second question is the one people skip. A price hundreds under everyone else usually means gray market stock — genuine GoPro gear imported outside the manufacturer's official US distribution channel. It's real gear, but it carries no US warranty, and some manufacturers (Nikon most strictly) will not service it in the United States at any price. B&H labels such stock "No USA Warranty", shortened to NUW. The full explanation is on the GoPro dealer page.
